Discord emoji resizer

Drop one or more PNGs and get Discord emoji at 128 by 128 pixels or stickers at exactly 320 by 320. The tool trims empty edges, centres the art on a transparent square, checks each file against Discord's 256 KB emoji and 512 KB sticker limits, and previews it in light and dark chat at real size. Nothing is uploaded. Animated emoji and stickers are not supported yet.

Drop your emotes, one PNG per emote

  • Never uploaded
  • Free, no account

Step by step

  1. Drop your images

Drop one PNG per emoji or sticker above. JPG, WebP and AVIF work too, but only PNG keeps a transparent background.

  2. Pick emoji or sticker

Choose Discord emoji for 128 px or Discord sticker for 320 px. Keep Trim on so the art fills the square.

  3. Check the preview

The light and dark panes show the emoji inside a line of text and on its own, and stickers at the size desktop chat uses.

  4. Download and upload

Download one PNG, or a ZIP when you have several. Then upload it in your server's settings in Discord.

What size should a Discord emoji be?

Make Discord emoji 128 by 128 pixels and keep them under 256 KB. Discord’s custom emoji help page gives only the file limit, and its developer documentation describes the uploaded image as “the 128x128 emoji image”. Both checked on 16 October 2026.

Discord image Size Formats File limit
Custom emoji 128 × 128 px JPEG, PNG, GIF, WebP 256 KB
Sticker 320 × 320 px, exact PNG, APNG 512 KB
Emoji name at least 2 characters letters, numbers, underscores

Sources: Discord’s custom emoji page and Tips for Sticker Creators FAQ, checked on 16 October 2026. The developer documentation gives the limits as 256 KiB and 512 KiB (262,144 and 524,288 bytes); this tool checks against 256,000 and 512,000 bytes, the stricter reading.

How big does Discord show emoji?

In Discord’s web app, an emoji in a line of text is 1.375 times the text size, which is 22 px at the default 16 px message text. A message that is only emoji shows them at 48 px. We read both values from the web app’s stylesheet (--custom-emoji-size-emoji: 1.375em and --custom-emoji-size-jumbo-emoji: 3rem) on 16 October 2026; Discord does not publish them on a help page and may change them.

So a 128 px emoji is drawn at 17% to 38% of its pixel size. That is why the tool’s preview shows both cases: art that reads at 48 px can still turn to mush at 22 px. Thick outlines, one clear shape and no small text hold up best.

What size is a Discord sticker?

A sticker is exactly 320 by 320 pixels and at most 512 KB. Discord says stickers render at 160 by 160 dp in desktop chat and recommends uploading at exactly 320 for that reason (Tips for Sticker Creators FAQ). Still stickers are PNG, animated ones APNG. Lottie stickers can only be uploaded by verified or partnered servers, according to the developer documentation.

Pick Discord sticker in the tool to get the 320 px PNG. A sticker that is not square is padded with transparent pixels, so it keeps its shape instead of being stretched.

Will my emoji go over the 256 KB limit?

Not if it is a still image at 128 px. Each pixel takes 4 bytes, so a 128 px emoji holds 65,536 bytes of pixels before any compression, a quarter of the limit. A 320 px sticker holds 409,600 bytes, under 512 KB. The tool measures every file it writes anyway and marks any file that goes over.

A full-size photo or a long GIF can go over. Resizing a still image to 128 px brings it well under.

How the resizing works

Each file is one emoji. The tool trims fully transparent edges so the art fills the square (turn Trim off to keep your own margin), centres it on a transparent square, and resizes it with a Mitchell filter, which blends every source pixel under each output pixel. Colour is weighted by transparency while resizing, so soft edges don’t get a dark halo. For pixel art, choose Pixel art scaling, which copies the nearest pixel and keeps hard edges.

The same files work for Twitch with different sizes: the Twitch emote resizer is this tool set up for Twitch emotes and sub badges.

What this tool does not do

  • It does not make animated emoji or stickers. A GIF is read as its first frame.
  • It does not remove a background. Discord accepts emoji with solid backgrounds, but if you want the art cut out, erase the background in your drawing app first and export a PNG.
  • It does not upload to Discord, rename emoji, or check them against Discord’s rules.

If the art is still a .procreate file, turn it into a PNG with the Procreate to PNG converter, then drop the PNG here.

Questions

What size should a Discord emoji be?

128 by 128 pixels. Discord's help page only sets a file limit of 256 KB, but its developer documentation describes the emoji upload as a 128x128 image.

What size is a Discord sticker?

Exactly 320 by 320 pixels, PNG for a still sticker or APNG for an animated one, and no more than 512 KB. Discord shows stickers at 160 by 160 in desktop chat, so the 320 px file stays sharp on high-density screens.

Can I use my Twitch emotes on Discord?

Yes. Drop the large original, not the 112 px Twitch file, and pick Discord emoji. Each size is made from the image you drop, so starting from your full-size art gives a sharper 128 px emoji than enlarging the 112 px one.

Does it make animated emoji or stickers?

No. A GIF is read as its first frame only. Discord accepts animated emoji as GIF and animated stickers as APNG, but this tool only writes still PNGs for now.

Why is my emoji upload failing?

Check the 256 KB limit first. A full-size photo or a long GIF can go over it; a still 128 px PNG can't, because its raw pixels are only 65,536 bytes. Emoji names also need at least 2 characters, using only letters, numbers and underscores.

Are my images uploaded?

No. Your browser decodes the images and the page resizes them in a background thread, then writes the PNGs on your device. Nothing goes to a server until you upload the result to Discord yourself.
