All questions

What is toPSD?

A website that opens Procreate files without Procreate. It shows the artwork and layers, and saves them as a full-size PNG, a layered PSD or the time-lapse video. Everything runs in your browser.

Do I need an iPad or Procreate?

No. You only need the .procreate file and a computer with a current browser.

Is my file uploaded?

No. Your browser reads and converts the file on your computer. toPSD never receives your artwork.

What does the PSD keep?

Layer names and order, opacity, visibility, all 26 Procreate blend modes, groups, clipping masks, layer masks, canvas rotation and flips, and the color profile.

What doesn't come through exactly?

Text layers become pixel layers. Layers using the Hue or Saturation blend mode can look slightly different, because Photoshop uses different math for those two modes. The time-lapse isn't part of a PSD, so it downloads as a separate video.

Which browsers work?

Current Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari. WebGPU is not required.

Does it work on a phone or iPad?

Yes, it runs in mobile browsers too. Phones have less memory than computers, so for very large canvases a computer is the safer choice.

Which Procreate versions are supported?

Files from Procreate 5 and later, including both kinds of tile compression Procreate uses.

Does it open Procreate Dreams or Procreate Pocket files?

Procreate Dreams files use a different format and are not supported. Procreate Pocket files haven't been tested yet.

How big a file can it handle?

It depends on your computer's memory, because the conversion happens on your computer. In our tests, a 2,118 × 1,836 file with 55 layers converts to PSD in under a second on a laptop.

Is the PNG really full resolution?

Yes. It is drawn from the layers at the canvas size, not taken from the small preview image inside the file.

Can I get the time-lapse video?

Yes, for free, when the file contains a recording. toPSD joins the clips Procreate stores into one MP4 without re-encoding.

Why do I have to sign in for the PSD?

Credits and purchases live on your account, so they work in any browser. Signing in uses Google or an email link, with no password.

What does the account store?

Your email address, your credits and purchases, and a list of past conversions with the file name, date, layer count and export type. Never the artwork. You can delete your history or your whole account at any time.

How much does it cost?

Viewing, the flat PNG and the time-lapse are free. The first PSD is free with an account. Then $3.90 for one file or $24.90 once for unlimited, forever.

Can I get a refund?

Yes, within 14 days if a file didn't convert properly. Email hello@topsd.app with the file name and what went wrong.

Can I convert to Illustrator or to vectors?

No. Procreate art is pixels, and toPSD keeps it as pixels. Illustrator can place the PSD or PNG, and tracing it into vectors is a separate step.

Is toPSD made by Procreate or Adobe?

No. toPSD is independent and not affiliated with Savage Interactive (the makers of Procreate) or Adobe.

Have a .procreate file to open?

Get a layered PSD in seconds. Your first one is free, and the file never leaves your computer.
